Lesson 14 introduced time signatures in compound meter -- music in which the beat is subdivided into three equal parts. This lesson presents rhythm patterns that subdivide those three parts in half through the use of sixteenth notes. Read the introduction to sixteenth notes in compound meter for further explanations and directions on how to count these rhythms. Also, visit the practice suggestion page for ideas on how to improve your rhythm skills when playing sixteenth notes in compound meter. Listen to the audio recordings below, and practice with a triple subdivision metronome, too.
